The energy sector is facing a convergence of challenges. Major investments aimed at reshaping the power generation mix toward decarbonisation are gaining momentum. A dynamic, profound, and complex transformation of the energy world is taking place in a new context.
It concerns economic security, stable access to clean energy, independence from imports (of raw materials, fuels, components), and infrastructure resilience in the face of crises and disruptions.
In the new European narrative, the energy transition is viewed through the lens of global production competitiveness. The goal of climate neutrality must be achieved in a way and at a pace that does not degrade the economy – which bears the costs of regulatory compliance and struggles with energy prices that are significantly higher in Europe than among its global competitors.
In this new environment, the call for broad investment in new, renewable, low- and zero-emission energy sources resonates strongly, so that they can increasingly contribute to a sustainable energy mix without compromising system stability and while creating a secure foundation.
There is growing focus on the need to ensure an appropriate level of local content and the participation of Polish companies, particularly in flagship transition projects: the nuclear programme, offshore wind investments, and the expansion and modernisation of the power grid.
Green technologies – crucially, developed locally and drawing on domestic expertise and capabilities – are to serve the goals of the energy transition. New alternative fuels are becoming increasingly important, though not without challenges.
The energy market, digital tools, new flexible balancing models, and the still considerable potential of energy efficiency and distributed prosumer generation – driven by actions at the local level – all have a vital role to play in shaping the future energy system.
All these issues will be discussed during the debates and discussions of Energy Days 2025 – an exceptional event focused on what is essential to a successful transition: open dialogue, responsible collaboration, and rational partnership.
